Day 31: Is it weird to love stretching this much? + Workout music from today

Okay, so I'm tossing aside my concerns about "not having anything to say." I liked what Patrick said in his comment to my last blog post about the blog being a constant public recommitment. I wasn't thinking of it like that, but I dig it, and that makes it a lot easier to be less worried about having something "new" to say. Thanks, Patrick!

I had my cheat/splurge last night--a midnight truffle blizzard from Dairy Queen. (I checked the calorie count before I had it to make sure it fell in the 200-400 calorie range.) It was really, really good, and I enjoyed it a great deal. The taste was so intensely sweet that I really slowed down and took my time enjoying it too, as opposed to just chowing down on it like I used to.

To my delight, I haven't had any sugar cravings today. I thought for sure as soon as I had a "goodie," all of my cravings would come roaring back, but so far, that's not been the case. (Phew!)

I'm still having those hip cramps I wrote about on Day 23. They bother me the most at night because I hate waking up with them. I've been focusing on doing lots of hip & glute stretches each day and the cramps don't seem to be as frequent, so I'm hopeful that they'll phase out soon.

My legs were shaking today after the leg portion of the workout so badly that I could feel them still quivering while I was doing my bicep & tricep work. Legs = jello.

My flexibility continues to return more and more. I love my post-workout stretching time. I mean ***loooooove*** it. It's one of the highlights of my day. It's when I feel happily quivery worked out, and it's me and my music and just enjoying the stretches and breathing. I let myself take a full half hour for it because I enjoy it so much. When my workout gets really really hard (you know the part where you start to shake really hard and hurt and maybe-just-maybe swear a time or two to get that last rep eeeked out?), I think about the post-workout yoga/stretch time, and that's like my reward to work toward. Is it weird to love stretching that much? :)

Another thing I love: songs I haven't heard for a while popping up from my iPod's randomized workout mix. Today's blast from the past was System of Down's Sugar (song starts at 0:54). Such a great song. It kind of makes me want to run around all crazy-like, and I might have, were it not for the fact that my legs were in the previously-mentioned jello-state, and running around was a bit out of the question. I love good ragey crazy music for workouts. Ye Olde iPod also selected Bodies by Drowning Pool, Not Falling by Mudvayne (another favorite) & When Worlds Collide by Powerman 5000 today, so apparently, it was in a bit of a ragey crazy mood itself. Made for a good workout mix!

I'm off to dinner with my folks... Happy Valentine's Day, everyone! :)
